LONDON: Prime Minister (PM) Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on Tuesday will be reaching London to lead Pakistan’s delegation of 25th Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) 2018 to be held from April 18 to 20.
The theme of the CHOGM is “Towards a Common Future”. Pakistan is one of the founding members of the conference and will have the opportunity to meet Commonwealth leaders to discuss matters of mutual interest in detail.
PM Abbasi will be taking part in all executive sessions along with other events being held on the sidelines of CHOGM.
As per sources, PM Abbasi will also be meeting Queen Elizabeth II, Prince of Wales and the British leadership.
Abbasi in reference to China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) said that CHOGM was an excellent platform to reel in investments in Pakistan.
The premier will be accompanied by Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif, Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal and Minister for Commerce Pervaiz Malik on the forum.
CHOGM is held every two years since 1971 with the objective to provide a platform to the countries to discuss achievements, challenges and dynamics of emerging markets globally. The current membership of the Commonwealth countries consists of 53 states that reflect diversity covering 6 continents.
Pakistan’s participation CHOGM 2018 is an opportunity to express Pakistan’s economic transition globally.
