LAHORE: A daylong auto festival was held at the Football Stadium on Sunday.
More than over 220 exquisite and superb collections of vehicles, including 40 modified cars and over 100 sports bikes, were displayed for visitors.
A large number of people along with their family members thronged the stadium and took keen interest in the displayed vehicles. A large range of colourful modified and sports vehicles grabbed the attention of youngsters, especially children, who were making snaps with automobiles.
A ban on stunts and burnouts was imposed by the management to avoid any untoward incident as well as due to security concerns, as no one was allowed to enter the venue without computerised national identity card (CNIC).
Muhammad Shehryar Khan, owner of the Morris Minor 1956 vehicle model, said: “The car was imported by my grandfather, late Commander Muhammad Khan, from England UK. Since 1956, the car has covered a distance of 72,000 miles only,” he said, adding: I’m very thankful to visitors, who appreciated me for participating in the auto show.”
A motorbike of 50cc, owned by Taimoor Shehzad, remained centre of attraction at the show.
Talking to Daily Times, Agha Qamar, organiser of the auto show, said, “Our purpose is to promote motor sector and encourage people’s passion and love for vehicles.” He said people from different cities of the country participated in the auto show with their luxury vehicles.
To a question, he said, “This is our auto show on such a large scale. Earlier, we had arranged several auto shows in different universities. We will arrange a northern rally trip with luxury vehicles in future to promote the auto sector and care for vehicles.”
