ISLAMABAD – A 3-member SupremeCourt bench has given time to counsel for Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif to review NADRA report in NA-110 rigging case besides adjourning hearing of the case for two weeks.
A bench presided over by Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali took up the case for hearing on Monday. Rashdin Nawaz, counsel for the minister, requested the court to adjourn the hearing of the case taking the plea that the NADRA report has neither been received so far about votes of the constituency nor has he reviewed the report.
The court expressed displeasure over it. Chief Justice Jamali remarked that the court cannot deliver the (NADRA) report in the home. “You should have obtained NADRA report on your own.” Babar Awan, counsel for PTI candidate Usman Dar, said that the NADRA report has unveiled facts. The case has become shorter following the arrival of the report.
The court while accepting the plea of the counsel for Khawaja Asif gave him time to review the report and adjourned the hearing of the case for two weeks. The defence minister was elected as member of the National Assembly on PML-N ticket from NA-110 constituency during the election 2013 and his rival PTI candidate Usman Dar has challenged his success.
