SHIEKHUPURA – In what appeared to be a height of superstition, a woman killed her eleven-year-old son after an ‘advice’ of a fake spiritual saint locally called as pir.
The incident occurred in Wandala Dayal Shah area of Ferozwala, where a woman identified as Shabana first strangled her eight-year-old son and then hanged him with a ceiling fan with a scarf. Her neighbours entered the house as they heard boy’s scream and saw the mother fleeing from the scene. She was caught and handed over to the police.
Locals told media that the mother took this step on a fake saint’s ‘advice’ in a bid to drive the spirit out of his body. Police have taken victim Umair’s body into custody and registered a case against the mother. Talking to media, Shabana’s husband said that his wife and son were possessed. Police have launched investigation into the incident.
